Our Story
A Home with History
The Manse takes its name from what it once was: the minister's house, likely serving nearby St Botolph's, one of the oldest churches in the area with records stretching back to the 12th century. The very street, Ropewalk, speaks to Knottingley's history as a hub of canal trade and rope-making.
Today, the building carries forward that sense of shelter and belonging. Under the care of CFP Care Ltd since January 2025, The Manse continues a tradition of residential care that has served the community for well over a decade, offering just 21 beds across two floors of this characterful home.
What We Offer
Care That Fits Your Life
Every care plan at The Manse is built around the individual. We listen first, then create support that preserves independence, dignity, and joy.
Residential Care
For over-65s who need a little more support to live well. Our approach is centred on maintaining independence, from managing daily routines to enjoying hobbies and socialising. Ground floor bedrooms and stairlift access ensure comfort on every level. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and personal belongings, making each room uniquely theirs.
Dementia Care
Specialist support for those living with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other forms of dementia. We believe in living with dementia, not just surviving it. Person-centred care with patience, compassion, and deep respect for the individual.
Respite Care
Short-term stays for when families need a break, or when someone needs temporary care following a hospital stay. All the same warmth and attention as a permanent resident, whether for a week or a month.
Daily Life
More Than Just a Place to Live
From morning exercises to live music afternoons, life at The Manse is shaped around what brings our residents happiness.
Good food brings people together. Our meals are prepared fresh each day using locally sourced ingredients, with menus tailored to individual tastes, dietary requirements, and cultural preferences. Dining here is a social occasion, not just sustenance.
Activities range from morning exercises and bingo to arts and crafts, gardening in our enclosed private garden, and live music sessions. We celebrate birthdays, mark holidays, and organise group outings — because every day deserves a reason to smile.
What Makes Us Different
Intimate by Design
With just 21 beds, The Manse is deliberately small. Not because we lack ambition, but because we believe the best care happens when everyone knows each other.
In larger homes, residents can become numbers on a board. Here, staff know every preference, every story, every family member by name. When someone returns from an outing, they are welcomed back. There is a genuine sense of belonging that simply cannot be manufactured at scale.
Our two lounges feel like living rooms, not waiting areas. Our enclosed garden is tended by residents who plant their own pots. Bedrooms can be furnished with your own things. This is not a facility. It is a home.
“Mum feels like she’s in a guest house. There is a really good sense of belonging.”— Family member
Not a Number, but a Neighbour
A 21-bed home means real relationships — between residents, between staff and families, and across generations of care.
Your Room, Your Way
Bring your own furniture, photographs, and familiar belongings. Ground floor rooms and stairlift access available.
Two Lounges, One Garden
Spaces designed for conversation, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the afternoon sun in our beautifully enclosed garden.
Quality Assurance
